David W. Berglund

Now retired, David founded the Berglund & Johnson Law Group with Dan Johnson in 1982.

During his career, David tried over 100 jury trials and hundreds of non-jury trials. He obtained multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements in cases involving defective products, airplane crashes, vehicular rollovers, elder abuse and auto accident cases.

True to his name, David specialized in taking on giants, from major automobile manufacturers and corporate giants to insurance companies and government agencies. He developed a reputation for taking on difficult cases, always sympathizing with his clients and desiring justice for them.

Dave grew up in Michigan and served as an officer in the Michigan State Police after being in the US NAVY. After discharge, he moved his family to California where Dave joined the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department.

Intrigued by the courtroom proceedings, David decided to enroll at Southwestern University Law School where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, he worked as a Superior Court Clerk for Judge Parks Stillwell, in San Fernando and Los Angeles, where he observed countless trial lawyers in action. This experience provided David with the quality of trial advocacy that few possess.

Throughout his career, David served on the board of many organizations, including legal associations, nonprofit organizations, and local churches. He was president of the Christian Legal Society, Los Angeles Chapter and Chairman of the Board at the Simon Greenleaf School of Law.

David was nominated “Trial Lawyer of the Year” for Los Angeles County and was recognized by the Consumer Attorneys of California for his experience in personal injury cases and as a trial lawyer.

Family and Legacy

David and his wife, Penny, have three sons, nine grandchildren, and a growing number of great grandchildren. Although he is now retired, his hard work and integrity still resonate with the team at Berglund & Johnson.
